THE STORY BEHIND REELGEN
Many ideas. One shared direction.
I'm Rico Brand. ReelGen is one of several projects that did not begin on a drawing board, but grew from experiences, problems and ideas from my own everyday life.
Each app has a different purpose. What connects them is the wish to build practical solutions that people can genuinely use – and to turn individual ideas into something lasting, one step at a time.
Why ReelGen was created
Anyone creating videos with AI knows the constant switch between writing, image, animation, voice, music and editing tools. Ideas, files and settings quickly become scattered across different services, while credits, uploads and repeated work can slow down the creative process.
ReelGen was created to bring these steps together in one clear film studio on the Mac – from the first prompt through scenes, voices and sound to the final export. Local processing and transparent workflows are intended to give people more control over their material and results.
ReelGen is not meant to be a magic promise. It is a tool for people who want to try ideas, change individual parts deliberately and understand their production path instead of starting again after every adjustment.
My path did not begin in software
My working life began in hospitality, service and organisation. Over many years, I learned how important clear processes, good communication and practical solutions are in everyday work.
Later came holiday accommodation, guest communication, cleaning coordination, properties, animals and many small tasks for which no simple solution seemed to exist.
That is why I started teaching myself software development step by step. Not because technology felt natural to me at the beginning, but because I wanted to do more than describe my ideas – I wanted to build them myself.
Hospitality & service
Many years of working directly with guests and teams shaped my understanding of what truly needs to work in everyday life.
Accommodation & organisation
Holiday properties brought planning, guest communication, cleaning, schedules and daily responsibility together.
My own digital tools
Recurring tasks gradually led to apps and programs designed to make practical workflows easier to manage.
AI film production
The wish for a local, connected path from an idea to a finished film became the starting point for ReelGen.
SOVELYO & the future
Through SOVELYO, the different projects are growing into one shared long-term vision.
Many projects. One shared mindset.
ReelGen connects creative ideas with a local video workflow. Yelva focuses on animals. CleanLedger grew from experience with accommodation, cleaning and organisation. SmartPOS builds on my professional background in hospitality and service. Pines & Palms brings in the real-world experience of managing holiday stays.
These projects are not the same, and they are not meant to be. Each keeps its own name, audience and purpose.
SOVELYO is the connection behind them: look closely, think practically, learn from experience and create solutions that are useful today and can open new possibilities tomorrow.
My personal vision
My goal is to develop these projects until they can stand on their own and be maintained for the long term. At the same time, I want to work more independently of one fixed location and gain the freedom to continue developing ideas from different places.
Part of this personal vision is the idea of one day travelling on a sailing boat. Not as an end to my work, but as a mobile base from which I can keep building, discover new places and experience new stories.
The boat is not the centre of the story. It represents freedom, movement and the opportunity to continue what I have built over the long term. At the same time, SOVELYO should gradually create room for further projects involving animals, nature and communities.
